Strengthening Land and Natural Resource Governance

This lecture examines recent efforts to weaken territorial rights legislation that protects the Amazon, including efforts to change the governance of protected areas and Indigenous Territories. It also presents success stories in  enforcement activities and proposes a path forward to strengthen natural resource governance and collaboration across the region through entities such as the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (OTCA) and the Governors’ Task Force for Forests and Climate.
