It is very easy to assume that we know our problems or challenges well; that we understand their origins, and where the responsibility to address the problems lies. However, a lack of understanding of the problem can lead to unnecessary tradeoffs, where solutions applied to one problem can cause new problems, and can lead down the wrong path with regard to who we are working with and what we need them to do to address the problem.
