In this chapter, Ian McCallum talks about earth observations and climate mitigation. Earth observations began with satellite information in the 1970s so that we have a record of environmental monitoring from space, in addition to many other methods of monitoring and evaluation. He gives many examples of satellites that will provide increasing amounts of information in the coming decades and how that information can be used in the context of climate change.
