This chapter focuses on building the knowledge required to apply a gender-responsive approach to designing and implementing measures for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. It begins by explaining the rationale for a gender-responsive approach in light of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. It then presents an analysis of documents, such as sample inventories and safeguarding plans from a gender-aware perspective and, as appropriate, formulate concrete suggestions for rendering them more gender-responsive.
