We know that climate change will have a disproportionate impact on poor and vulnerable countries and people, including women and children. Their livelihoods are threatened by climate change, and poor people often live in locations that are more vulnerable to climate and natural disasters. By the same token, climate change can exacerbate inequality, both through the impacts on the poor and the relative ability of different countries and groups to withstand climate shocks.
