Indigenous and Local Knowledge (ILK) is essential to conservation and sustainable development efforts across the Amazon, although its role is only recently gaining global recognition. This lecture presents illustrative examples of how ILK can engage with mainstream scientific and technical knowledge on an equal footing in support of conservation and development initiatives.
