The world is moving into a fourth industrial revolution, an era marked by a disruptive change in production processes due to advances in technology. This change is compounded by a lack of transformative industrialization processes in member countries. Global trends show that many of those countries are experiencing negative deindustrialization impacts.
It is clear that conventional approaches to these challenges are inadequate for providing sustainable solutions. Innovation, new tools and transformative policies are needed if change is to occur. This means revisiting the current business model used by the IsDB member countries and global development financing institutions, including the IsDB.
