The Information Revolution

The sixth wave of globalization is in the midst of its own technological revolution: the information and digitization revolution. Professor Sachs talks about how science and technology have made it possible to store, process, and transmit information on an unprecedented scales. He touches upon Moore’s Law and the internet of things. Mobile communications and smart phones have connected the world in unprecedented ways and have allowed for global diffusion. Sachs shows a graph focused on Neural Networks, or the architecture of smart machines, and talks about neuroscience, as well as computers and machine learning. Finally, Professor Sachs talks about the economic and growth implications of technology advancement in the information age.
