Islamic values and principles related to economics and finance can be broadly classified as ethics and legal rules. Ethical values concern moral teachings covering different aspects of behavior and dealings. Islamic legal rules relate to jurisprudence which consists of laws and principles related to dealings with other humans and the environment. Shariah, in other words, Islamic law, can be summarized in one maxim which states that “the overall aim of Shariah is to promote welfare or benefit and prevent harm”.
