On April 25, 1945, delegates representing more than 80% of humanity met in San Francisco to sign the United Nations Charter that said that the maintenance of international peace and security is fundamental. The three pillars of the United Nations are peace and security, development, and human rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948 under the auspices of Eleanor Roosevelt and is integral to the three pillars.
