An emerging international trend in Academic Publishing is aligning scholarly work and publishing with the Sustainable Development Goals. The purpose of this workshop is to inform, amplify & encourage significant concrete action on the SDG Publishers Compact (
https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sdg-publishers-compact/), that will ultimately influence the priorities of faculty researchers, bringing scholarly activity in greater alignment with the SDGs.
Speakers:
Sherri Aldis is the Chief of United Nations Publications in the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. She has been at the United Nations since February 2015 where she oversees its publishing activities and policies and supports the communications priorities and campaigns of the UN, such as the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Michiel Kolman is Senior VP Information Industry Relations and Academic Ambassador at Elsevier and former President of the International Publishers Association (IPA) where he now chairs Inclusive Publishing and Literacy.
Dr. Julia Christensen Hughes is president of Yorkville University, Canada. She serves on the board of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) and is an active member of the UN’s HESI roundtable.
As President of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development, Dr. Debra Rowe helps create systems change for climate solutions and sustainability within the sectors of business, education, communities and youth internationally.
